I am offering regular group classes in Qigong and Tai Chi Chuan in South Devon and tailor-made wellbeing sessions for individuals or small groups.

Qigong Classes

For people with no experience of practising either Qigong or Tai Chi Chuan, I am offering 'Dragon and Tiger Qigong', a relatively simple form to learn, comprising of seven movements paired on the left and right sides of the body. Despite being relatively easy to learn, it offers numerous health benefits. For some, this form will be enough and will serve as a valuable asset to any regular health practice, whilst for others, it may serve as an 'introduction' to a regular Qigong and Tai Chi Chuan practice.

Class times: 

This form will be taught as a short 'course' over a period of 4 weeks.

£40 for the 4-week course.

Tai Chi Chuan Classes

For those with prior experience, or for those who wish to dedicate time to learning a more extensive practise, I will be teaching the 99 movement Tai Chi Chuan form of the Cheng Ming System, as developed by Wang Shu Chin. 

Initially, classes will focus upon learning and perfecting the first 14 movements of the form, which act as a foundation upon which the other movements are developed. Each class, the 14 movements will be practised repeatedly and a small section of the form will be studied in detail, with the aim of perfecting the postures and sequences. Alongside this, Qigong (Zhan Zhuang) postures will also be introduced gradually, As such, classes are suitable for beginners and indeed, as this will be a new class, everyone will be a 'beginner' irrespective of any prior experience.

Once students have a solid foundation, classes will develop to include the full range of Qigong (Zhan Zhuang) postures, push hands practice, and applications, which are also integral parts of the system.

To learn the full 99 movement form takes approximately one year and although progress is slow, the benefits of learning the form in this manner should not be underestimated.

It is my hope that after teaching students the full 99 movement form, to teach Hsing Yi Chuan and Tai Chi Sword, which are also elements of the Cheng Ming system of 'internal martial arts'.

Tailor-made Wellbeing Sessions

Alongside regular group classes in Qigong and Tai Chi Chuan, I am also offering tailor-made classes for individuals or small groups. Depending on the desired aim, whether it be more of a 'physical workout', a 'relaxing meditative practice', or a combination of both, I use my knowledge gained through over 25 years of practice in martial arts and meditative practice, to provide a tailor-made combination of physical movements coupled with meditative exercises, to achieve the desired aim - an improvement in one's holistic health and well-being.

About me

I have been interested in martial arts and Eastern Philosophy since a young age. I began practicing martial arts in 1994, initially learning Tae Kwon Do for 5 years. Since 2003, I have been practicing the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, which I still practise today. In 2007, I began learning the Chinese health practice of Qigong, studying for 3 years in Cardiff in the 'Lee Family' system. In 2014, I moved to Tokyo, where I began to diligently practice Tai Chi Chuan in the Cheng Ming System of Wang Shu Chin, under the instruction of Master Hidemine Jibiki. I was very fortunate to receive first-rate instruction in Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong (Zhan Zhuang), 'push hands' and Hsing Yi Chuan from Master Jibiki himself, alongside a variety of teachers at the head branch of the AJSSMAF in Tokyo. I was also very fortunate to receive instruction in Tai Chi Sword, Hsing Yi Chuan and Qigong (Zhan Zhuang) from Hiroko Nakamura (President of the AJSSMAF), as well as instruction in Tai Chi Chuan and Hsing Yi Chuan from Grandmaster Wang Fu Lai, and instruction in Tai Chi Sword from Huang Su Chun. 

My interest in Eastern Philosophy also began around 1994 when I first read a copy of the 'Tao Te Ching' at my uncle's house, which sparked a life-long interest in Eastern Philosophy. At the same time, I also remember finding a book on qigong and being able to 'feel the energy', which made a big impression on me at a relatively young age. I continued to read widely on a range of Eastern Philosophies and health practices and in 2000, I began practising the 'Energy Medicine' techniques of Donna Eden. In 2007, I trained in Bi-Aura Therapy and shortly afterwards, I trained in the Zdenko Domancic Method of Bioenergy Therapy, and 'Theta Healing'. I completed Reiki levels 1 & 2 in 2012, and I have worked as a complimentary therapist in the UK and also in Goa, India.

In 2018, I completed an MA Philosophy and Religion - Eastern and Western Thought, and now after many years of study, research and practice, it is my desire to share what I have learnt to benefit others; at a time when there is arguably more need than ever.​
